The International Ballet Forum collaborates with national ballet schools and ballet companies across Europe to offer a variety of programs, including workshops, training courses, and the Munich Grand Prix.

Each program provides unique opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with distinguished teachers and dancers from around the world, helping every participant expand their potential.

Participation Eligibility Holders Open to applicants holding any of the designated participation eligibilities.

How to Apply

Applications are accepted online only. If you are unable to apply online, please contact the Secretariat for assistance. Please note that the number of participants we can accompany is limited. Applications will close once capacity is reached and may close before the published deadline. Capacity is also limited within each age group, so we encourage you to apply as early as possible.

Continuing Training Program

We Recommend Continuing Training Programs To help participants make the most of their overseas learning experience, the International Ballet Forum offers schedules that allow participation in multiple consecutive training programs. In response to rising travel and training costs, these programs are designed to provide a more efficient and rewarding international training experience. By taking part in continuing training programs, participants can deepen not only their ballet education but also their understanding of local culture, enriching both their knowledge and experience through this valuable opportunity abroad.

Queensland Ballet Academy Training Program 2026

 Eligibility   Eligibility Holders

As Australia is located in the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons are opposite to those in Japan. In March, Sydney enjoys late summer, with average daytime temperatures of around 25°C and nighttime temperatures of around 18°C. The weather is warm, comfortable, and ideal for training.

Australia is also known for its safe environment, and with little to no time difference from Japan, participants can adjust easily and minimize the effects of jet lag.

The training program will be held at the Academy's modern campus, which opened in February 2020.

The Accademia Teatro alla Scala Dance Department is the dance division of one of the world's most prestigious opera houses, Teatro alla Scala. The Vienna State Opera Ballet Academy is one of the world's leading ballet training institutions and is affiliated with the Vienna State Opera. Combining a strong tradition of classical ballet education with valuable stage experience, the Academy has produced many outstanding dancers.

Students have opportunities to perform in productions of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna State Ballet during their training, gaining invaluable experience for successful international careers.

Munich Grand Prix & Workshop 2027

The Munich Grand Prix & Workshop is the International Ballet Forum's original international workshop and ballet competition, featuring distinguished teachers from national ballet schools and ballet companies across Europe.

 

As an optional additional program, participants may also join the Prague Training Program 2027.

Participation in the Munich Grand Prix & Workshop 2027 only is also possible.

Please note that participation in the Prague Training Program only is generally not accepted. If you wish to participate only in the Prague Training Program, please contact the Secretariat in advance.

 Overview 

[Workshop]

Participants take classes with teachers from various national ballet schools, experiencing their unique teaching methods and educational approaches firsthand.

Lessons throughout the workshop also form part of the audition process, allowing the faculty to assess each participant's attitude, potential, and artistic development.

[MGP]

The Munich Grand Prix features a performance by all participants, followed by evaluations from directors of national ballet schools.

Outstanding participants may be selected for scholarships, training program opportunities, and study opportunities abroad.

John Cranko Schule

A faculty member from the John Cranko School participated as a guest teacher at the Munich Workshop 2026, providing instruction to participants.

The school is also involved in the Munich Grand Prix (MGP), with its faculty serving as jury members, reflecting the ongoing collaboration between the John Cranko School and the International Ballet Forum.

The John Cranko School, based in Stuttgart, Germany, is one of the world's leading ballet training institutions.

Its state-of-the-art campus, completed in 2020, features spacious studios and student residences, welcoming talented young dancers from around the world. Working in close partnership with the Stuttgart Ballet, the school provides exceptional training in both technical excellence and artistic expression. Many of its graduates have gone on to successful careers with leading ballet companies worldwide.

The Palucca University of Dance Dresden

The Palucca University of Dance Dresden is the only independent university of dance in Dresden, Saxony, Germany. Founded in 1925 by the pioneering expressionist dancer Gret Palucca, it is one of Europe's most prestigious dance institutions, with nearly a century of history.

At the Munich Grand Prix 2023, five participants were selected for short-term study opportunities at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden and the Zurich Dance Academy.

The International Ballet Forum continues to maintain a close and ongoing relationship with the University.

The Palucca University of Dance Dresden is Germany's only independent university dedicated exclusively to dance.

Its modern campus features state-of-the-art facilities, including light-filled glass studios designed to provide an inspiring learning environment. Students can study a wide range of disciplines, including classical ballet, contemporary dance, and dance education.

Talented students from around the world come to study at the University, and many graduates have gone on to successful international careers.

Ballet Academy
University of Music and Performing Arts Munich

As one of Germany's leading ballet training institutions, the Ballet Academy attracts talented young dancers from around the world. Rooted in classical ballet, the Academy also provides comprehensive training in contemporary dance, stage performance, and other areas of the performing arts. Many of its graduates have gone on to successful international careers.

The International Ballet Forum has maintained a close partnership with the Academy for many years. Its Director, Jan Broeckx, serves as a jury member for the Munich Grand Prix (MGP) each year.

The MGP also offers opportunities to be selected for the Academy's Summer School and scholarships, giving many participants the chance to study in Munich.
